Week end in Florence.

Florence is one of those historic cities that can be visited continuously, without ever feeling completely “satiated”, indeed, we will come back and every time is really enjoyable. To escape from the daily routine I was given a weekend ending with the discovery, good food and hospitality that can be found here.

Start with telling you and advise you a magical place, of those who leave you alienated. I booked a room in Signa (FI) at the Hotel il Borgo di Villa Castelletti. Completely immersed in nature, with beautiful and well-kept gardens, a swimming pool and the opportunity to rent bicycles.

The suite was clean, cared in every detail, spacious and very romantic with a canopy bed. The service and the staff are friendly and well versed at every request. The breakfast was abundant and very cured. Typical dinner at La Quercia di Castelletti Restaurant, where I was able to sample delicious dishes and also offer Gluten Free food.

Now that I have unveiled this jewel of Tuscany, I can only tell you about the beautiful Florence. What to see on a weekend?

We start from the Duomo, Santa Maria del Fiore, which captures the attention of anyone who has the fortune to admire it. Impressive cathedral that together with the Brunelleschi Dome and the bell tower of Giotto make even more the historic center. To visit all three monuments you can buy a single ticket for 15 €. You continue your visit to the Ponte Vecchio, inevitable the memory photo. The curiosity I discovered recently is that at a time the shops sold meat and fruit and then be forcibly replaced with goldsmith shops and artisans who felt more appropriate to the beauty of the place.

Immense the structure of Palazzo Vecchio in Piazza della Signoria, seat of the municipality of Florence. The Arnolfo Tower, 94 meters high, stands out across the entire palace. At the main entrance is also a copy of David of Michelangelo, replaced with the original from 1910.

The Uffizi Museum is one of the most important and well-known in the world and you can not absolutely miss it, though not lovers of art in particular. Here are masterpieces by Giotto, Michelangelo, Botticelli and Raffaello, who together created works that the whole world envied us. I advise you to buy tickets well in advance and if you have little time available you can also book guides jumping row. Tickets online.

How not to give reason to the Dominican friars who in 1278 began to build the wonderful Church of Santa Maria Novella, just to give a letdown to the Franciscan and Augustinian friars. Beautiful outside and important in embellished with works by Giotto, Filippino Lippi, Brunelleschi and the famous Trinità of Masaccio.

The ultimate and unforgettable tour of the Academy Gallery where you will finally be able to watch the unique and original David of Michelangelo. This gallery houses paintings and sculptures from the 14th to the 16th centuries. Born to introduce art to the students of the Academy of Fine Arts, today it hosts millions of visitors. I also recommend a restaurant where to eat simple cuisine of the Tuscan tradition. Trattoria Bordino, in the center of Florence, is located just above the Ponte Vecchio. Here I have lunch and I was pleased with the quality, kindness, cleanliness, service and absolutely honest prices to be in the heart of the city.
